Marketing Coordinator

The job: Working with the firm’s engineering staff and management: develop responses to RFPs/RFQs/RFIs; assemble qualifications packages; create and maintain all marketing collateral material including resumes and project sheets; develop periodic outbound marketing communications; maintain the company’s website content. The RFP/RFQ work ebbs and flows, and in between that work the marketing coordinator should be proactively working on the other items.

The requirements: Some experience in the A/E/C industry preferred but not required. Written communication skills must be outstanding, and the successful candidate should have an eye for the design of printed and electronic media. Skill in Microsoft Office – particularly Word – is necessary and familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe InDesign would be a huge plus.

The other stuff: We are open-minded about whether this position is full or part-time and about the location from which the work is done. We would rather have a great part-time person than an average full-time person.

Office Manager - DC

The job: The Office Manager will have broad responsibilities in a number of areas. This person will support the firm’s accounting function and will provide specific administrative support to the firm’s DC-based Project Managers and Principals using the Deltek Vision platform. The office manager is also expected to keep the office facility itself in great operating condition.

  • Accounts Payable (AP). Enter vendor invoices into Deltek Vision system. Maintain accurate vendor records. Pay vendor invoices weekly. Prepare checks for signature and mail signed checks to vendors.
  • Accounts Receivable (AR). Make daily cash deposits with bank and enter deposits into Deltek Vision system.
  • Cash Management. Conduct and/or review the monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Payroll. Maintain the firm’s payroll data. Process semi-monthly payroll. Coordinate activities with payroll outsourcing firm.
  • Project Administration. Set up new projects and marketing opportunities in the Deltek Vision system. Maintain the Deltek Vision client and project database. Prepare correspondence, proposals, etc. as required by managers and principals. Prepare draft and final invoices. Mail and/or email final invoices. Follow-up with clients on cash collections. Generate and distribute project management reports. Print, bind, copy, and mail reports and other project correspondence.
  • Office management. Maintain the firm’s office space in working order. This includes: Office equipment – copiers, printers, fax machines, and postage equipment; Administrative files; Office and kitchen supplies; Manage the flow of mail into and out of the office.

The requirements: A few years of experience in a similar role is preferred, with that experience in the A/E/C industry strongly preferred. Written communication skills must be outstanding. Experience with the Deltek Vision platform is strongly preferred.

The other stuff: We are open-minded about whether this position is full or part-time. The position does require that the person work from our Washington DC office location.

Transportation Engineer

Transportation Engineers and Planners use their engineering, analytic, and software (HCS, Synchro, Traffix, Autocad, Microstation, etc.) skills to meet client needs on the full scope of our engagements, to include:

  • Traffic Impact Studies
  • Traffic Operations Studies
  • Environmental Impact Assessments
  • Parking Studies and Parking Layout Design
  • Traffic Signal Warrant Analysis and Signal Design

Requirements for this position:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a Bachelors Degree in a Planning discipline with a concentration in Transportation.
  • Ability to write in technical but clear terms

Post-college work experience in an engineering consulting practice is strongly preferred.


Project Manager

Project Managers lead teams of engineers and planners to satisfy client needs and exceed client expectations.   These individuals are responsible for ensuring that work is done correctly, that deadlines are met, and that all work is completed in a financially sound way. Project Managers directly supervise and mentor engineers and planners, and are responsible for these individuals' performance, training, and career progression.  Projects that this individual will lead include:

  • Institutional Transportation and Master Planning projects
  • Traffic Impact Studies
  • Traffic Operations Studies
  • Environmental Impact Assessment
  • Parking Studies and Parking Layout Design
  • Signal Warrant Analysis and Signal Design

Requirements for this position:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Transportation Engineering
  • Professional Engineering registration (strongly desired)
  • Five to eight years experience as a practicing Transportation or Traffic Engineer
  • Significant experience interacting with clients and public agency officials
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience using the following software packages: Synchro, Corsim, Microstation, AutoCAD, Autoturn, GIS, Wintass, and HCS.
