Engineering Technician (Position is in Chantilly VA)

Engineering Technicians conduct field traffic, parking, and pedestrian counts, surveys, and observations, and work alongside the firm's other technical staff members to input data and prepare reports for clients. They coordinate the activities of the firm's temporary workforce and are responsible for arranging teams of these individuals to conduct counts and surveys.

Engineering Technicians use the Microsoft Office suite of software and will be trained to use traffic engineering software such as: Corsim, Synchro, Microstation, AutoCAD, Autoturn, GIS, Wintass, HCS, PETRA, and TAS. Prior experience with these software packages is highly desired.

Requirements for this position:

  • Demonstrated performance record in a full-time position
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate the activities others
  • Flexibility with regard to work hours
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Desired qualifications include:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent
  • Certification as an Engineering Technician
  • One to four years full-time experience in a similar position with a transportation engineering company or federal/state/local government transportation agency.
  • Experience with Autocad and/or Microstation software programs

This is a full-time position, but work hours can vary significantly from week to week and include weekends, depending on the number and nature of field counts and surveys on the firm's schedule.

Transportation Engineer

Transportation Engineers work as part of a project team and use their engineering, analytic, and software skills to meet client needs as they relate to transportation, traffic, and parking. Projects that this individual will work on include:

  • Traffic Impact Studies

  • Traffic Operations Studies

  • Environmental Impact Assessments

  • Parking Studies and Parking Layout Design

  • Signal Warrant Analysis and Signal Design


Requirements for this position include:

  • Masters Degrees in Civil or Transportation Engineering

  • 2 years exp. preparing Traffic Impact Studies using HCS, Synchro/Simtraffic, and Level of Service analysis.

  • Engineering in Training certification.

 

Project Manager

Project Managers lead teams of Transportation Engineers to satisfy client needs and exceed client expectations as they relate to transportation, traffic, and parking. These individuals are responsible for ensuring that work is done correctly, that deadlines are met, and that all work is completed in a financially sound way. Project managers directly supervise and mentor one or more Associates and Senior Associates, and are responsible for these individuals' performance, training, and career progression. Projects that this individual will lead include:

  • Institutional Transportation and Master Planning projects

  • Traffic Impact Studies

  • Traffic Operations Studies

  • Environmental Impact Assessment

  • Parking Studies and Parking Layout Design

  • Signal Warrant Analysis and Signal Design

Requirements for this position:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering

  • Professional Engineering registration (strongly desired)

  • Five to eight years experience as a practicing Transportation or Traffic Engineer

  • Significant experience interacting with clients and public agency officials

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Experience using the following software packages: Corsim, Synchro, Microstation, AutoCAD 2002, Autoturn, GIS, Wintass, HCS, PETRA, and TAS.

Those individuals with experience leading project teams and managing and mentoring individuals are strongly urged to apply. This is not an entry-level position.
