Gorove/Slade Associates, Inc. (G/SA) was part of the team of engineers who examined the traffic circulation alternatives for the New Convention Center by making use of a traffic simulation software program called Traffic System Integrated Software (TSIS).
This TSIS software (also called CORSIM) provides information such as average travel speed and vehicle delays for streets on the specified network. Additionally, an animated "simulation" of traffic is created that shows the anticipated traffic operations for a street network with a given set of traffic volumes. This methodology provides a tremendous amount of flexibility to analyze multiple scenarios in a relatively short amount of time. The goal of the simulation was to ascertain the most effective travel lane and signal timing configuration in an effort to maximize traffic flow throughout roadway network in the vicinity of the New Convention Center.
