Gorove/Slade Associates has broad experience in planning pedestrian and bicycle facilities for entire jurisdictions, urban corridors, central business districts, major employment centers, campuses, residential communities, and park systems both throughout the greater Washington region and nationwide.

We have prepared circulation and access improvement studies, investigated issues related to safety and traffic calming, and have developed safety and way-finding signage layouts. We have also integrated pedestrian and bicycle planning issues into many of our more general transportation planning and management projects including jurisdictional transportation plan elements and updates, corridor analyses, access management plans, and sub-area plans for major employment centers. Finally, we have assisted local jurisdictions in developing transportation master plans, establishing local transportation standards, and implementation guidelines that address the unique needs of pedestrians and bicyclists.

Recent Work Includes:

The DC Bicycle Master Plan is part of a renewed effort to increase the number of trips made by bicycle by improving bicycling conditions throughout the District of Columbia. The detailed planning process undertaken by Gorove/Slade and the other consultant team members will include comprehensive mapping and analysis of existing conditions on all of the District's principal, minor and collector roads (more than 400 miles); the identification of a route network of on-road improvements based on existing conditions and public input; a feasibility analysis; striping plans; policy and design guidelines; bicycle counts; a bicycle map and a final written plan.
